Mr. Miller is an experienced CEO with over thirty years of successful leadership in public and private companies. Recent successes include the building and strategic exit of a bio-pharma company and an IPO for a trans-dermal drug delivery company. With a successful history in strategic planning, operations, business development, and funding, his drug/device experience includes Marion Laboratories, American Home Products Corporation, American Hospital Supply Corporation, William H. Rorer, and Iomed, Inc. His M.B.A. is from the University of Utah where he graduated first in his class with honors. For two consecutive years, he has been recognized as one of Utah’s Top 100 venture entrepreneurs and is an Adjunct Professor of Business at the University of Utah. He helped establish Angel Flight (www.angelflight.org) in Utah in 1999.

Bert Israelsen, Chief Operating Officer (more...) Mr. Israelsen served in various senior management positions since 1995. Under the tutelage of Mr. Miller, he has helped grow the family of businesses with sustained profits each year and directed the team in the acquisition of Echelon Biosciences, Inc. in December 2007. Prior to joining FSI, Mr. Israelsen worked in sales management positions from 1983 to 1994. Currently, he serves on the Utah State University College of Engineering Industrial Board and the Department of Chemistry Advisory Board. Mr. Israelsen served as the Chairman of the Cache Entrepreneurial Council (CEC) from 2008 to 2011 and continues to serve on the executive committee of the CEC.

Mark Nelson, Ph.D., Director of Science and Business Development (more...) Dr. Nelson has over two decades of experience in drug discovery, medicinal chemistry and the development of therapeutic agents, where his leadership in both chemistry and biology led to the formation of Paratek Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Boston, and the development of two compounds now in Phase I and III human clinical studies. Currently, he interfaces the business and science sectors, establishing relationships with collaborators and clients while expanding both technology acquisitions and intellectual property portfolios. Dr. Nelson holds a B.S. in Chemistry and Microbiology from Gannon University and a Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences from Temple University. He is the primary inventor on over forty patents and has numerous publications and reviews in the areas of drug design, antibiotics, and drug discovery.

Charles (Chad) Testa, Ph.D., Vice President of Research & Development (more...) Dr. Testa is an experienced scientist with ten years of industrial research experience. His background spans a broad spectrum of biological and chemical fields, including molecular biology, genetic engineering, enzymology and chemical synthesis contributing to his leadership of various multidisciplinary teams. As the VP of Research and Development for Frontier and Echelon, Dr. Testa oversees all new product efforts for both companies and has personally been involved in the release of multiple new product categories (including over one hundred new products). Dr. Testa holds a B.A. in Biochemistry from Ithaca College, an M.S. in Chemistry from Bucknell University and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Utah. He is an author on seven publications, inventor on one issued patent (and several pending applications), and has been awarded over two million dollars in grant funding.

Dustin Cefalo, Ph.D., Director of Applied Technology (more...) Dr. Cefalo has spent the previous eight years with Frontier Scientific. He has a B.A. in Chemistry from Weber State University and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Boston College studying enantioselective metathesis catalysts and their application towards organic synthesis under Professor Amir Hoveyda. Prior to joining Frontier Scientific, Dr. Cefalo worked as a medicinal chemist and has progressed from Research Scientist to Director of Applied Technology in his time with the company.

Jerry Bommer, Ph.D, Vice President of Porphyrin Research (more...) Dr. Bommer joined Porphyrin Products (now Frontier Scientific Inc.) full time in 1977 after completing a doctorate in inorganic chemistry at Utah State University researching the coordination chemistry of borohydrides and boranocarbonates. Initially specializing in preparation and characterization of metalloporphyrins, Dr. Bommer directed the synthesis and testing of new photodynamic tetrapyrroles for treatment of solid malignant tumors, resulting in a new drug currently in clinical use in Japan and undergoing clinical trials for FDA approval. His current work is focused on novel photodynamic antimicrobials with application for treating cutaneous lesions and for water purification.

Neil Jones, CPA, MAcc, Controller and Human Resources Director (more...) Mr. Jones has over twenty years experience in public and private accounting and human resources management. Mr. Jones received his Bachelors and Masters of Accountancy from Brigham Young University and is a C.P.A. He has over eight years working at the accounting firm of Deloitte Touche and at another international firm. Mr. Jones has been a controller and human resource director for over twelve years, concentrating on small and mid-sized businesses in the research & development, manufacturing, distributing business sectors. He has also been a teacher of managerial and financial accounting courses at a local community college. Having been at Frontier Scientific for over eight years, he supervises accounting and human resources at Frontier Scientific and Frontier Scientific Services as part of the overall management team.

Nathan Rupert, M.B.A., Marketing Manager (more...) Mr. Rupert offers over nine years of direct sales and marketing experience. His technical know-how has since been complimented with an MBA from the University of Utah's David Eccles School of Business with emphases in marketing and brand management. Mr. Rupert is charged with advertising, product management, market and competitive research, and distribution management responsibilities.
